New Delhi. According to the status report submitted by the CBI in the Kolkata rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy’s name has emerged prominently in the case of rape and murder of the deceased. Investigation has confirmed that Sanjay Roy raped and murdered the victim. According to CBI, DNA findings, CCTV footage, and autopsy report have confirmed Sanjay Roy’s involvement. The investigation so far has also revealed that this is not a case of gang rape, but a case of rape and murder. However, the CBI has not completed its investigation on the gangrape theory and an independent forensic report may seek the help of experts for a final opinion on it. The CBI investigation against Sandeep Ghosh has revealed that there were lapses in security at the crime scene and that hospital authorities had failed to handle the case with sensitivity. The CBI believes that many important protocols were not followed by Sandeep Ghosh and the hospital officials. On the basis of this, possibilities of arrest of Sandeep Ghosh are being considered.

The CBI is also investigating the ongoing renovation work in the hospital, the delay in filing the FIR, and the deadline given by the Kolkata Police. The further direction of the case will be clear only after investigation on all these points.
