The full form of HSSC is Haryana Staff Selection Commission. The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) was constituted on January 28, 1970, by the Government of Haryana, as per the provision of Article 309 of the Constitution of India. The Commission mainly conducts the recruitment examinations/interviews for Group ‘C’ services for the State of Haryana, and may also conduct the recruitment examinations/interviews for Groups ‘B’ and ‘D’ services if the State Government requires so.
Examination Level: All the exams are conducted for recruitment in the state of Haryana only.

Scope: Every year notifications for numerous posts are out. The posts for which the exam is going to be conducted soon are as follows: Junior Engineer, Gram Sachiv, Canal Patwari, Police Constable, Sub Inspector, Supervisor, Staff Nurse.

HSSC Notification
The conducting body will release an official notification that will have all the details regarding the number of vacancies, eligibility criteria, the syllabus, and all the important dates related to the HSSC 2021 examination. Notifications regarding the posts of Junior Engineer, Gram Sachiv, Canal patwari, Haryana Police are available.
Candidates will have to go through the HSSC Notification before applying to the examination.
HSSC Exam Date
The notification of HSSC Constable has been released. There is a 1-month window for filling the Application form. Candidates must be aware of the important dates related to the exam and make sure that they complete the relevant process before the specified last date in order to avoid any last moment hassle. HSSC Eligibility
The eligibility conditions for each post under the HSSC 2021 Exam vary. Candidates must go through the detailed eligibility criteria and make sure that they satisfy all the conditions before applying to the examination. The official notification will have all the information related to the exam including eligibility. Candidates have to go through it on the official website. Different posts will have different educational qualification requirements and age limits. The candidature of those candidates who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will be canceled. Age Relaxation: The age relaxation is provided in all the posts to certain categories. The criteria for attaining age relaxation are as follows:
- The candidates belonging to SC/ST category, are given an age relaxation of 5 years.
- The candidates belonging to PwD category, are given an age relaxation of 10 years (except for Haryana Police vacancies)

HSSC Exam Syllabus
The syllabus for the written exam is the same for all vacancies except the vacancies in Haryana police(Both SI and Constable). The HSSC 2021 Exam Syllabus is given below:
Syllabus for the post of Junior Engineer, Gram Sachiv and Canal Patwari
There will be one written exam for these posts for 90 marks. 75% of the syllabus will be general and 25% syllabus will check the candidate’s knowledge related to the state of Haryana.
The Majority portion containing 75% weightage will include General Awareness, Reasoning, Maths, Science, Computer, English, Hindi, and relevant subject as per post. The Remaining portion will contain History, Current Affairs, Literature, Geography, Civics, Environment, Culture, etc. of Haryana.
Syllabus for the post of Sub Inspector(SI) and Constable in Haryana Police
A written test will be conducted having 80% weightage in the overall score. The test will have questions from General Awareness, General Science, Current Events, General Reasoning, Mental Aptitude, Numerical ability, Agriculture and animal husbandry and the relevant topics related to the posts.
The syllabus is the same for both SI and Constable, however, the difficulty level of the paper for Constable will be of 10+2 level, whereas the difficulty level of the paper for SI will be of graduate level.

HSSC 2021 Exam Application Form
The application form is available online only. The candidate has to enter his/her personal and academic details in the HSSC 2021 Application Form. Candidates have to keep all the important dates related to the exam in mind. So that all the relevant tasks can be completed way before that last date mentioned by the conducting body. This will avoid any kind of last-minute hassle. Candidates have to be very cautious while filling the details in the application form. All the documents/images should be in the required size and format before uploading them online. After filling the required details the candidates need to pay the fees, after which the registration process will be completed.
How to Apply / application procedure for HSSC 2021 Exam?
The candidate has to undertake the following steps while filling the HSSC 2021 application form:
- Step 1: Candidates have to log in to the official website HSSC at www.hssc.gov.in.
- Step 2: Click on the ‘Apply Job Online’ link on the homepage.
- Step 3: Under the section of the relevant post, click on the ‘Click here to Apply Online’ link.
- Step 4: Then candidates have to fill the HSSC Exam 2021 application form online.
- Step 5: Candidates must keep in mind that they cannot change the information once they submit the form, so they have to fill the information very carefully.
- Step 6: Candidates have to keep a scanned copy of the photograph and signature which they need to upload in the Document upload link of the form.
- Step 7: If candidates want to pay the application fee offline, they are requested to download the e-challan and take a printout of it. Net banking is also one of the modes of fee payment.
- Step 8: Candidates should visit the selected bank and deposit the HSSC 2021 Exam fees as specified after twenty-four hours of generation of e-challan. After confirmation from the bank, the status of payment of fees will be updated in the HSSC website.

Documents Required to Apply for HSSC 2021 Exam
- Applicants should have scanned copies of mark sheet of 10+2/Graduation/Diploma/Degree and Matric showing their Date of Birth.
- A scanned copy of their photograph and signature should be uploaded.
- Candidates who have already applied before should have a copy of the challan, a certificate given by the treasury or e-challan.
- Candidates who are Sportspersons should have a scanned copy of the Sports Graduation Certificate issued by the Concerned Authority.
- Candidates under BCA/BCB/SC/PHC/EBPG/ESM/DESM/DFF and women who are from Haryana should have a scanned copy of the Haryana Domicile Certificate issued by the concerned authority.
HSSC Exam Pattern
The exam will be conducted both online and offline. The paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions(MCQs). The exam pattern for all the posts except posts in Haryana police is the same.

The HSSC exam pattern for recruitment for various posts under the exam are:
Exam Pattern for the post of Junior Engineer, Gram Sachiv and Canal Patwari
In the exam, there will be a written test, which will have a weightage of 90%. Remaining 10% marks will be given on the basis of Socio-Economic criteria and experience. The written test will further contain 75% General and technical topics and the remaining 25% will test the knowledge of the candidate about various aspects of Haryana.
The Socio-Economic Criteria includes the following:
- 5 marks will be awarded to the candidate if any of the candidate’s relative (which includes father, mother, spouse, brother, and Son) was or is not a part of any organization under state or central Govt.
- 5 marks will be awarded if –
- The candidate is a widow.
- The applicant’s father died before attaining the age of 42 years.
- The applicant’s father died before the applicant attained the age of 15 years.
- 5 marks will be awarded if the candidate belongs to any of the denotified or Nomadic tribe which does not come under either Backward or Schedule classes
The candidate will be given 0.5 marks for each year for their Experience in the same or a higher post in any other Govt Department. The maximum marks that can be given for experience are 8.
Exam Pattern for the post of Sub Inspector (SI) and Constable in Haryana Police
The selection process consists of three steps:
Written test (Knowledge Test): It constitutes 80% weightage of the total score. There are a total of 100 questions. Each question carries 0.80 marks. The medium can be Hindi or English.
Physical Screening Test: The candidates qualifying the Knowledge test will proceed for the Physical screening test. In this, the candidates have to run a certain distance in a predefined time. This test is qualifying in nature. The details of the Physical screening test is as follows:

Physical Measurement Test: This test is also qualifying in nature, in which the candidate must have height and chest measurements equal to or more than the specified standards.
10 marks are dependent upon Additional qualification that the candidate has over the normally prescribed qualification for the posts.
- For Constable, a candidate who has done graduation will be given 4 marks, and the candidate who has done Post- graduation will get an additional 3 marks.
- For SI, a candidate who has done graduation in Law or forensic medicine or forensic science or Computer Engineering/Science will get 3 marks, and the candidate who has done Post- graduation will get an additional 3 marks.
HSSC Exam Admit Card
The Admit Card will be released online on the official site of HSSC. The HSSC 2021 Exam Admit Card will contain details about candidates such as the roll number and application number and the location of the Exam Centre and other details mentioned below. The exact dates for the release of the Admit card are not declared yet, they will be updated soon. The candidates will have to submit their application number, date of birth, and security pin to download the admit card.

Documents to carry for HSSC Document Verification
Candidates are required to carry the original and set of self-attested photocopies of the below-listed documents for the document verification process:

HSSC Cut-Off
The cut-off marks for HSSC depend upon the number of seats available for the exam, the difficulty level of the paper and the number of candidates appearing for the exam. The cut off for each post varies from one category to another. Candidates can refer to the previous year’s cut-off for various posts in order to get a brief insight about the score expected to be secured to get that post. The cutoff scores will not be the same from one year to another. The previous year’s cutoff will serve as a reference only.

HSSC Exam Selection Procedure
The HSSC 2021 Selection Procedure for the posts of Constable and SI is different from all the procedures of all the other posts.
Selection Procedure for the post of Junior Engineer, Gram Sachiv and Canal Patwari
For these posts, there will be a written exam, in which the candidates have to score above the cutoff decided by the commission. The written test will contribute to 90 marks out of 100. The rest 10 marks will be given on the basis of Socio-Economic criteria and Experience.
The Socio-Economic Criteria includes the following:
- 5 marks will be awarded to the candidate if any of the candidate’s relatives (which includes father, mother, spouse, brother, and Son) was or is not a part of any organisation under state or central Govt.
- 5 marks will be awarded if
- The candidate is a widow.
- The applicant’s father died before attaining the age of 42 years.
- The applicant’s father died before the applicant attained the age of 15 years.

- Knowledge Test: This is basically a written test in which the candidate has to clear a cutoff decided by the commission. It constitutes 80% of the total score.
- Physical Screening Test: In this, the candidates have to run a certain distance in a predefined time.
- Physical Measurement Test: This test is also qualifying in nature, in which the candidate must have height and chest measurements equal to or more than the specified standards.
- Additional Qualification: 10 marks are dependent upon additional qualifications that the candidate has over the normally prescribed qualification for the posts.
- For Constable, a candidate who has done graduation will be given 4 marks and the candidate who has done post-graduation will get an additional 3 marks.
- For SI, a candidate who has done graduation in Law or forensic medicine or forensic science or Computer Engineering/Science will get 3 marks and the candidate who has done post-graduation will get an additional 3 marks.
How to prepare for HSSC Exam?
As there is a huge competition in this exam, the candidates must prepare well for this exam. The Aptitude and reasoning section consumes a lot of time and the questions are tricky, thus a lot of practice is required that too of different types. The candidates should solve as many sample and previous year papers as possible.
Regarding the General Awareness and Language section paper, the candidate should read the newspaper daily and thoroughly. The editorials are really good for improving vocabulary and all this improves the candidate’s reading ability.
