Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the UGC NET exam is held twice a year in online mode.

Here are some important details about the UGC NET JRF exam:

Eligibility criteria: Candidates must have a master’s degree or its equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates) from a recognized university.

Age limit: For the JRF post, the maximum age limit is 30 years as on the first day of the month in which the exam is held. There is no upper age limit for the Assistant Professor post.

Exam pattern: The UGC NET exam consists of two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is common for all candidates and tests their general awareness, reasoning ability, comprehension, and divergent thinking. Paper II is subject-specific and tests the candidate’s knowledge of their chosen subject.

Marking scheme: Both papers are of 100 marks each and consist of 50 questions each. Each correct answer carries 2 marks, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers.
