This popular video calling app is going to shut down after 22 years, users got a big shock

New Delhi: Microsoft has taken a big step and decided to shut down its popular video calling platform Skype. In the coming days, this app will disappear from the users’ devices. If you are also using Skype, then you will soon have to switch to another video calling platform.

Microsoft has also said that it will offer Microsoft Teams as a better option for users after Skype is shut down. The company has announced that Skype will be completely shut down from May 5 and now more focus will be given on Microsoft Teams, which is being made even more powerful than before.

Opportunity to switch to Microsoft Teams
If you switch from Skype to Microsoft Teams, then all your data will be transferred. The company says that Microsoft Teams has all the features that were in Skype, as well as Teams has some new features that are not available in Skype. Microsoft Teams was launched in 2017 and since then it is being continuously updated.

Skype was launched in 2003

Skype was launched in 2003 and was bought by Microsoft in 2011. For many years it was the most prominent app for video calling, but Microsoft gradually removed many features from it. In 2015, Microsoft tried to integrate Skype into Windows 10, but this feature was discontinued after a few months.

Now Microsoft has decided to completely shut down Skype after 22 years and is working towards making Microsoft Teams a new option for video calling and official work.
