Twitter is now X. Twitter renamed as X, Here’s what that means. Last week, the social media program formerly known as Twitter revealed that it would be changing its name. Twitter.com is now the default landing page for X.com, a flashing X has replaced the bird emblem at business HQ, and the app can be found under the name “X” in the iOS and Android app stores. Previously an online watering hole for the hyper-connected, Twitter is now seeking to become an app that can do “everything,” as stated by newly appointed CEO Linda Yaccarino, and the rebranding is another move in this direction.

“Twitter was acquired by X Corp both to ensure freedom of speech and as an accelerant for X, the everything app,” billionaire owner Elon Musk recently stated. Twitter is changed name as X

It used to be that all you could do on Twitter was send and receive messages no longer than 140 characters (much like birds tweeting), but today you can upload videos lasting several hours. It will be possible to handle all of your financial affairs and we will be adding complete communications in the coming months,” he said.

Why is everyone using the letter X?

Since Musk named his first company X.com, it’s safe to assume he has always had a thing for the letter X. (After a merger, the app changed names to PayPal; nonetheless, historian Walter Isaacson claims that Musk fought to maintain the X moniker.) Musk reportedly told Isaacson via text message after purchasing Twitter that he was “very excited about finally implementing X.com as it should have been done, using Twitter as an accelerant!”

SpaceX, Musk’s space exploration firm, the Model X, one of Tesla’s initial vehicles, and xAI, his artificial intelligence program, all use the letter X in their names. Musk even uses the term X to talk about his son with the musician Grimes.

Speaking on the correct pronunciation of his kid X A-XII’s name, he recently claimed, “It’s just X, the letter X,” on the Joe Rogan Experience.

Six years ago, Musk took back control of X.com. In April, he officially changed Twitter’s name to X Corp. The domain name X.com was changed to Twitter.com over the weekend, and on Monday, the company’s famous bird logo was removed from its San Francisco offices using a crane. However, the work was halted by the police shortly after it had begun.

The ramifications for Twitter are unclear.

So yet, the only thing that has changed about the platform is its name; in keeping with Musk’s apparent favored product strategy, no new functionality have been offered.

Mandeep Singh, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, believes that Musk will continue to exercise significant influence over the company despite the rebranding. Singh speculated that after Musk’s takeover in April 2022, the billionaire could be able to make some modifications and rapidly sell Twitter to a new owner.

“That possibility is no longer available because of the name change; I do not believe there is any other potential purchaser who will take it at this time,” he said.
